Size and Quantity: Which do you go for?
12-29-11

Going all out when it comes to commercial printing is really an unnecessary splurge. All it takes is the right planning, design, and choices, and you would have a set of perfectly usable prints that would suit all of your purposes. Reliable Ft Worth printers and trustworthy DFW printers may tell you otherwise, but there is no need to spend on every added feature just to get the best prints. For instance, if you had a choice between a small batch of extra large posters and a large batch of smaller posters, there is really no reason to go for both size and quantity. You just have to learn which to use depending on your situation.
First let us list down the different reasons why you should go for one over the other and not for both. One is that it is overly expensive and pretty inefficient in the long run. Another is that it is grossly wasteful of paper and ink, and there is really no guarantee that hundreds of life-sized posters will bring you significantly more customers than a bunch of regularly sized ones. If you are thinking the for every ten additional prints or for every square inch increase in print area there is a proportional increase in the number of your customers, then you are wrong. It simply does not work that way.
Now that we have established the ground rules, let us now enumerate the different situations where either size or quantity is a better choice to go for. First, let us focus on size. Big prints are more suited for bigger venues where the objective is to focus the attention of as many people as possible into your advertisement. Examples are in malls and conventions where special events are regularly held in. Think about it and you will realize that the big poster is more suited than a hundred flyers being passed around the crowd.
So when is quantity the better choice? You would want to print many individual prints if your main goal is to get many people to read and understand your advertisement as accurately as possible and if you do not need to focus their attention into anything. This goes for events where it is very important that people understand what is written and where misunderstandings can lead to bigger headaches that you would rather not deal with. Some examples: dissemination of competition mechanics or sale schedules.
There are actually quite a lot of decisions in commercial printing where you will be required to choose one option over another, simple because it is highly impractical to spend money on both. Other times, it is simply impossible. Do not fret too much however, because your Ft Worth printer or DFW printer will help you out in times of confusion and in times when you need outside opinion regarding your situation. Size and quantity are not the only things you have to look out for, but it is good nevertheless to know how to choose which over which.
