Austin's rolled in with San Antonio? Blasphemy! ;)

Looks like I'm the first here, so let me just say hi! My name is Monica. Scott & I have been engaged for six months and I'm finally starting to get going on wedding plans. We're getting married on the beach at Rockport next June. It's going to be a blend of low-key with a bit of Spanish and some Princess Bride thrown in. Confused yet?

Anyway, here's hoping some other Austin girls jump in here soon!

Hi Monica! I'm Ashley. Why is Austin lumped in under San Antonio? That is blasphemy! We're getting married just outside of Austin on April 24, 2010. We currently live in San Francisco, so it's like planning a destination wedding, but we're Texans at heart, and most of our family & friends live in Texas. Our wedding is going to be at Star Hill Ranch, so it's got a casual, small-town, vintage-y feel. We're going to do all the flowers ourselves, and we've been collecting vintage tobacco, food & coffee tins as the "vases". Were going for a 50's style (all the dresses are tea-length, and have full circle skirts with petticoats - they're being made from vintage 50's cocktail-dress patterns.) But we've added a modern-ish twist with the colors - my main color is charcoal grey (the bridesmaid dresses will be that color), with my accent being chartreuse and then minimal trims/accents of fuchsia. I'm hoping to find some fabulous chartreuse peep-toe sling heels, and chartreuse petticoats for the girls & for the men's ties. We're doing as much DIY as possible: I'm currently working on the Save-the-Dates. I'm going to make my fascinator & birdcage veil, fascinators for the bridesmaids, we're going to screenprint all the linens... gosh, I know there's more, but I'll leave it at that. Go Austin Brides!!!

PS - I LOVE Princess Bride! Good luck with your wedding! I'd love to hear more!

- Ashley

I'm an Austinite born and raised and I definitely agree it's funny to put it with San Antonio.

My wedding is Feb. 22nd 2013 at Mercury Hall near downtown. It's a revived beautiful baptist church with stained glass windows, chandeliers and wood floors.

My wedding is a friday night valentines affair so my decor is red and pink roses, hearts and cupid! I know this may sound a little cheesy but it's going to be classic and romantic. :) My dress is an Oleg Cassini.

I'm trying to do some beautiful faux roses for centerpieces! Since my wedding is so close to v day I cannot afford to have a 400-700 dollar floral budget

We are also catering ourselves also as my future husband is a chef.
